We welcome everyone! Jesus calls everyone regardless of their profession, background, failures, or success. We commit to studying God’s Word in fellowship, to outreaching his terms and showing Christian care for people in our community and world, and to worshipping God in meaningful ways, giving all glory to Jesus Christ our Risen Lord who leads the Church now and forevermore.
At Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, we are so glad when together we work for those in need and build our Presbyterian Church Social Work supporting our community. And because we are committed with our mission, we want to share with you some of our Social Work activities, and welcome you to many more coming during this year:
Among our Social Work:
- Banner Lake back to school mission project:
Collection of school supplies for the Banner Lake Club’s “Backpack Giveaway Program”. HSCPC members and friends had very generous donations school supplies to fill the 50 backpacks, given to us by the Presbytery of Tropical Florida. They filled the tables in the church conference room. Many monetary contributions have also been received, and the Banner Lake Club can use this money to purchase additional supplies as needed.
The next job of HSCPC volunteers was to organize the supplies by category, pack them up, and deliver them to Banner Lake, so that their volunteers could fill the backpacks with school supplies appropriate to the ages of the children receiving them. Under the supervision of Mission Committee Chairman Catherine Hilton, several members and friends gathered after church on Sunday to accomplish this task.
- Rally Day All Day Sunday
It’s a day that has been designated as RALLY DAY, and the after- church social hour its transformed into a picnic-like buffet, with food, ice cream sundaes, and cupcakes decorated by the children as part of their Sunday School lesson. RALLY DAY isn’t just for the children. Information its always available in the Sunday bulletin.
Social Work separated from its religious beginnings in part to gain legitimacy as a profession yet the two have continued to interact, both in partnership and in contest. Faith-based organizations have continued throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to provide significant social support and assistance in serving those with great needs such as impoverished and homeless individuals.
We pray to the one sovereign, loving God of all creation for continued blessing and inspiration that by the power of the Holy Spirit and example of the Son, we dedicate ourselves to live the gifted life of faith and service to which we have been called.
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:42
