Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church began as a Sunday School in 1925 with 34 people. The Presbyterian Church USA, Synod of Florida was soon asked to organize the group into a church, which was done in January 1926 with 50 members. Now, Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church (HSCPC) currently has an official active membership of 115 members within all ages.
Our church has designed a Presbyterian Church Sunday School in Port Salerno program thinking in our members’ requirements (children and adults), creating two groups:
- Children’s Sunday School – 10:45 am
Children begin their Presbyterian Church Sunday School in Port Salerno worship in the Sanctuary with their parents. Following initial hymns, prayers and scripture readings. A Children’s Message is given by the Pastor and the children are dismissed to Sunday School. This is offered from 5yrs – 12yrs. The curriculum used is “Hands-on Worship” and includes crew leaders (Teens) to assist the younger children. The lesson plans provide a bible point, scripture and bible verse.
Our Presbyterian Church Sunday School in Port Salerno program also have planned activities beyond the Sunday School classrooms aim to include neighborhood children whether or not they attend our Church. Such activities include the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Halloween trunk-or-treat festivities, and monthly evening movies on the lawn. It is felt that such neighborhood outreach is important in our community oriented Church.
- Adult Sunday School
Adult Bible Study is also part of Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, it is held every Sunday at 9:30am, and is directed by the Pastor. The sessions feature the scripture lessons to be presented in the following Worship Service.
